Sony’s Playstation Network allows users to play on multiplayer titles via Internet. Playstation Network was forced offline on Sunday due to Cyber-attack on several online gaming services. Sony’s Playstation Network was back online on Monday after the Cyber Attack.
Sony Playstation Network service connects Playstation 3 users and Playstation 4 users to the video game console via internet such as top video services like Netflix.
On this Sony said on his blog, that the system was take down by Distributed Denail of Service (DDoS), which sent a lot of traffic on server that couldn’t handle so it went down. Sony also said that the attacker didn’t gained any root access to its server and so their all the user information is completely safe.
Further, the attackers also included a threat to American Airlines Plane on which the Sony’s President was traveling today , John Smedley. The Plane was diverted to Phoenix due to Bomb threat.
According to TOI report, A Twitter user with the handle @LizardSquad claimed responsibility for the attack on Sunday, and said the attack was meant to pressure Sony to spend more of its profits on the network.
“Sony, yet another large company, but they aren’t spending the waves of cash they obtain on their customers’ (PlayStation Network) service. End the greed,” one post said on Sunday.
The Attacker Lizard Squad said that they had also targeted the Servers of World of Wildcarft, Blizzard Entertainment and also on sunday their website was down. The Company’s associate tweeted that their servers are stabilizing.
Lizard Squad also threatened the Microsoft’s Xbox live Network and some users have already informed that they have issue operating the Xbox Live.
Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the Flight Threatened issue and finding if it is connected with this Hack Attacks. While Smedley thinks that it is not a coincidence.
