During Computex 2016, Asus announced it’s Zenfone 3 Ultra, a phablet with a 6.8 Inch enormous display. The phablet excites those who want a massive screen and a generous battery life and can replace their age-old 7-inch tablets.
The phablet comes with a 6.8 Inch Full HD huge display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 Octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz along with Adreno 510 GPU. It is backed by a 23 MP primary camera with dual tone flash and an 8MP selfie shooter. The company’s in-house software ZenUI powers the phone with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The 4600 mAh Battery supports Quick Charge 3.0. You also get a generous 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of internal memory.
Build & Design
The Zenfone 3 Ultra sports an all metallic unibody design which makes it feel like a smartphone and not a tablet. It is a slim device with narrow bezels. Due to its large screen, it gets quite hard to operate it single-handedly. The all-metal design makes it a bit heavier too but relatively light for its size. It will get hard for you to fit it in your pocket. But, the built quality is solid and feels sturdy in hand. The designers have put in conscious efforts to make the phone look beautiful in all ways.
The phablet offers an extra large 6.8 Inch IPS LCD Full HD screen which is an absolute delight. It has 324 pixels per inch. The display quality is excellent. Viewing angles are exceptionally well. It is quite sharp too.
It is a Gorilla Glass 4 display to provide additional protection. However, the large display is still prone to shatter so you might consider getting a good quality cover.
Another department where the phone excels is its camera quality. The phone features a 23MP primary camera along with hybrid autofocus using laser and phase-detection. All the essential sensors are also provided. The pictures captured were fairly good. The camera performed well even in low light conditions. The color reproduction is accurate, and it can capture even minute details. It also has to ability to record videos in 4k resolution. The 8MP front camera too did an excellent job.
The Snapdragon 652 chipset in the phablet doesn’t match the performance level of high-end Snapdragon 820 and 821 but is capable of running heavy apps and multitasking smoothly. You won’t feel any unusual heating while day to day usage. It can also run heavy games without any lag.
The phablet comes with a 4,600 MaH huge battery that is enough to keep it running all day long. It is a perfect match to its extra large screen. It can even last for up to two days on moderate usage. The Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology claims to charge the phone from 0% to 60% in just 45 minutes You also get an option to use this phablet as a power bank to charge other devices.
