Now this might be a Contradictory while saying it but its true. Nokia’s mapping services will be soon available on Samsung Phones. While Google Map service won’t be removed but from now by default Nokia mapping service will be seen on all Samsung Smartphones.
According to BBC Report This will be a test or a beta version of an Android app for Nokia’s maps included free on the handsets and the Gear S smartwatch.
Nokia maps are also being used by Yahoo and Amazong and also for Microsoft’s Bing search engine since very long. Nokia map service covers 190 countries.
Well, their mapping service offers turn by turn navigation, tourist info and public transport detail. Plus their maps can be download and they are further useful for offline purpose.
This mapping service is being specially prepared for Samsung Gear S SmartWatch. Now-a-days wearable devices are taking place in the market and as of now soon this October Asus ZenWatch will be available at cheaper price and Apple’s iWatch is going to be available in 2015. So competition is rising and that’s the main reason Samsung is trying new experiments on its products.
Ron Amaeo said Nokia maps was just one of the apps Samsung was keen to stop relying on google for. Further he continued saying, Samsung’s strategy has some disadvantages.
While Nokia’s mapping service is the division which Microsoft did not buy when they acquired the Nokia “Devices and Services” a phone making company i.e. Nokia in the year 2013.
